Trinity @ El Salvador
Beginning in 2004 Trinity began forming relationships with communities and organizations in El Salvador that have proven to be enormously influential to our own community. By entering into relationships of mutuality with Salvadorans, we have learned to read the Gospels with new eyes, and to see our economy and ourselves with a very different understanding than that conveyed by our government and the popular media. Whether we are on a work crew, a medical team or an educational encounter, we go to El Salvador to listen and learn, and to re-discover the significant ingredients of community that we, as North Americans, have long since lost.
El Salvador Medical Team with APROCSAL
APROCSAL is a Salvadoran NGO with significant funding from Spain, and they have teamed up with Trinityites, John & Catherine Gillespie, to provide on-going medical visitation once or twice a year. The Gillespies’ organize a team of doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals who take a week at their own expense to provide basic health care and medicinesto impoverished Salvadorans that have no prospect of any other health care. Through partnership with APROCSAL, medicines and health regimens can be monitored between medical team visits. Contact Catherine Gillespie at if you are a medical professional with an interest in participating. (March 2011).
El Salvador Envcounter with Voices on the Border…
VOB has been an advocate for peace and justice in El Salvador for generations and they have become experienced guides to North Americans seeking to build relationships and understanding through community. Our “Encounter” visits take participants into rural communities to live and work and play with Salvadorans. The experience has touched participants deeply and enflame their passion as advocates of justice and peace upon return. Contact Cam Miller at if you have an interest in participating. (January 2011)
